Shape doesn’t require structure to make it appealing or attractive, different sizes and shades of a similar colour can create textures and perspectives, sometimes seen by many, sometimes only a few.
From memory, this piece began with an indiscriminate shape, and by adding other colours, twisting and pulling them, a loose design emerged. I was listening at the time to a compilation of old Blues numbers, and the lack of order in the deign made me think of a traditional blues number which had wandered off on its own before returning to the standard. Hmm, a “Bad Case of the Blues”, it just felt right.
